There's always lots to do during the holidays and there's no exception for Meetup activities for December. We start off the month with a meetup at Auditorium Shores on December 3rd. After the meetup, head on over to the PetsMart at Brodie Lane and 290 for the annual PAWS of Austin Photos with Santa. There will be a bake sale as well and proceeds from the sale of photos and goodies benefit PAWS.
On December 10th, take time out to do a little shopping at the Holiday Show and Sale at the home of one our meetup members, Susan Fenwick. Susan and other artists will be displaying their unique creations for sale. There will be refreshments and you can bring the furkids to come shop with you, on leash of course. Invite all your friends and family to this unique shopping event. And part of the proceeds from the sale of gifts will benefit PAWS of Austin.
On December 18th, we'll have a meetup at the Cedar Bark Park at 11:00 and then at 1:00, take a short drive over to Milburn Park in Cedar Park for the Austin Dog Alliance Bow Wow Holiday Express Festival. There will be a train ride (dogs can ride too), vendor booths and a holiday market with gifts for dogs, carnival games, cookie and dog biscuit decorating and more. There's also a parade with prizes to be awarded. There is a suggested donation of $20 per family, not person, with the proceeds benefiting the Austin Dog Alliance and the good work they do. So bring out the whole family for a day of fun.
I'd also like to announce a new sponsor for our Meetup. It's the ASPCA. Take a moment to click on their link under "Our Sponsors" and take the pledge to not shop in pet stores that sell puppies. Learn more about their organization and mission and their fight to put an end to puppy mills. Our own Courtney Leigh and PAWS of Austin did a fabulous job organizing the Texas Puppy Mill Awareness Day this fall. Let's continue the fight to stop the abuse and neglect that occurs in puppy mills by supporting the ASPCA.
Hope to see you at the December events and wishing all of you a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.
