Mecklenburg County LP Meetup - Location Change

March 27th Meeting has been moved to the Dunhill Hotel (Asbury Room) to host a coordinated event with the Bastiat Society of Charlotte which is just recently created. Our speaker will be Edward Lopez.

Dr. Lopez is a Research Fellow at The Independent Institute, currently the BB&T Distinguished Professor of Capitalism at Western Carolina University, and former President of the Association of Private Enterprise Education. He earned a B.S. in economics from Texas A&M University, and an M.A. and Ph.D in economics at George Mason University in 1997.

Dr. Lopez plans to discuss his new book, Madmen, Intellectuals, and Academic Scribblers. When does political change happen? Is a crisis needed for significant reform to pass? As economists we have been studying these fundamental questions for years. Dr. Lopez's new book, Madmen, Intellectuals, and Academic Scribblers, addresses how, when, and where political change happens. Madmen shows that a crisis is neither necessary nor sufficient for meaningful political reform.

Normally, LPMeck has its monthly meetups the 4th Wednesday of every month at 7:00 pm at the Fox & Hound Uptown to discuss how we will promote liberty, small government and free market economics in Mecklenburg County. Although it is coordinated by the Libertarian Party of Meck, these meetings are open to anyone interested. we will feature a guest speaker each month who will provide information and insight into politics, economics, and liberty activism. Please visit for details.
