Eagle Creek "Chocolate" House Tour

This location is shown only to members

This Eagle Creek "Chocolate" Home has unique heating and cooling systems - utilizing a masonry heater, ground source heat, and the water of an indoor endless pool, all tied together to keep the house cool in summer and comfortable in winter with minimal dependence on "purchased power." This house also takes advantage of passive solar design, of the high-efficiency that comes from the use of insulated concrete formed walls, all while retaining beautiful views, natural interior light, and new-century aesthetics. Three old-growth Douglas fir trees needed to be removed from the house site, but were reused as exposed structural wood throughout the house. This home is designed for LEED for Homes Platinum standards.

The tour will be conducted by the owners as well as the design-architect, Paolo Scardinia of Paolo Design Group. Some of you may remember his presentation on the design of this house last January - now we get to see it in completed form in person!

PLEASE NOTE - DRIVING TO THIS LOCATION FROM INNER PORTLAND WILL TAKE 1 HOUR.

It would be ideal to carpool for this event. More details to follow on meeting location for carpooling.

It was Nice to get out of Dodge for this event....Very Cool Home! I can't believe how many People went on their OWN without Car Pooling to a Place that was so far away...we were encouraged to Car Pool, but the majority of the People turned a BLIND EYE to Our Organizer's E-mail...people who are in a Green Group Do NOT Seem that They Really are Green...they seem to just follow a trend to whatever the trend is...something to think about...Are You Really Green?

A beautiful house in a beautiful setting. Did "geothermal" actually mean that they pump already hot water from the ground?

Beautiful functional home. Very stylish and relevant. It's simplicity is part of it's beauty. I was impressed with the teamwork, design, and overall result. A long, well-thought-out path to an impressive conclusion. Enjoyable experience for all by the quantity and quality of questions from the group. Very enthusiastic builder, designer and owners.

Very interesting and educational. The house certianly is fabulouse. Be very interested in the costing of such a home. An the various features. And yes Renee' makes an excellent point. And while I never mind car pooling but for many of us were so ingrained in just making our own way. That we just tend to over look it in our own lives. I can only say I am very sorry and try RSVP'ing earlier enough to say hey I'm in Multhnomah Village and am happy to. So March 20th is comming up. Plus afterwards I did do a little detour so not too sure I'd been able to do that if I'd not gone on my own. Though personally I'd love company. Or travel with others doing there own thing. Though I'm sure others woldn't want a 3rd wheel.
