Just wanted to say that i just noticed that we passed the 100 MEMBER MARK! YAY! i think i deserve a cupcake---- COINCIDENTALLY we just happen to have 2 upcoming meetups including cupcakes!
i also wanted to say WELCOME to all of our new and newerish members! we have had so many people joining us that i just havent had a chance to welcome and greet everyone personally- although, honestly, i sincerely am happy to have you all here!
there's a bunch of new upcoming meetups scheduled, as well as more to come-i hope you all get a chance to come to a meetup soon! honestly, we dont bite! we're a fun bunch of people! please feel free to make some suggestions too! i love to go different places- let's face it- i have usually been to all of the places i arrange for meetups- so it's nice to add variety!!! please also keep an eye on the calendar since i have put some NOTABLE EVENTS there--- things i would LOVE to do if there were more of me and more time (dont we all need those?)-- but please! if you like an idea or a noted event and decide you'd like to go- PLEASE MESSAGE ME- and i can schedule it as a meetup- surely someone else would maybe tag a long!! Dont be shy! this is suposed to be fun! and a great way to meet people! cant do that sitting in front of the computer just WISHING you were out with us!!!
just one other note- it was yet again brought to my attention that people are RSVP'ing to events and not showing up- let's all be adults and remember that someone took the time to get where they said they'd be to meet you- the least you can do is let them know if you cant make it--- and in a timely manner... there's really no reason you cant at least follow up if your plans change to let us know. i know lots of other groups that will toss you on your keister for no show's-- i'm not that kind of person- so i'm not going to let it get to that. if you are unsure about coming- at least RSVP "maybe" as a heads up. otherwise- please change your RSVP to "no" if you end up not being able to come-- it's common courtesy and we all deserve it right? esp the awesome organizers and hosts, right? *shakes head in agreement*
and one last thing- i wish you all a wonderful thanksgiving and hope you get to spend some time counting your blessings and being thankful for all that we have as people, as a community, as beings on this lovely green planet!
Are yinz guys interested in going green? Or do you just have a green thumb n'at?
Are you trying to live better, eat locally, or do you want to help create a more sustainable Pittsburgh? Do you want to meet other people in the area that enjoy farmer's markets and learning about composting? Are you thinking about an organic lifestyle but feel overwhelmed by it all, and are just looking to ease into the whole thing? Well, me too!
A few friends and myself have decided to take the steps to live greener, eat "more-ganic" and have fun while doing it! We also figured that there were others out there that were just as intimidated as us to make the switch to a healthier and more eco-friendly life- so we created this group.
We are looking to meet a couple of times a month to talk about composting and buying locally as well as swapping recipes and just mingle. We are planning potlucks, nature walks, garden parties, trips to local farms, wineries and organic restaurants- as well as changing the image of GOING GREEN. We are not militant zealots that want to stop people from living, but people looking to live eco-friendly and socially responsible- with an emphasis on living in Pittsburgh (an urban society).
We are a diverse group, looking to add more diversity- vegans as well as meat lovers are welcome. We encourage discussions on "hot topics" but THIS IS NOT A DEBATE GROUP- so PLEASE leave your judgements and preaching elsewhere- there is room for everyone! We encourage people to share their viewpoints and opinions, but are not looking to convert anyone, or promote any lifestyle over another.
So whether you are looking to make a small change like trying out MEATLESS MONDAYS once a month, or going the whole way and selling your car and living in a tree, come on out and meet us!
Free to join, but donations fuel the events! Give if you are able! If not, help out in other ways - host an event, offer to carpool, and of course, goodies are always welcome!
