First beer on me! I will also be covering some wings too.
Green Drinks Calgary is a monthly event that brings together environmentally-minded Calgarians in a relaxed, agenda-free evening of networking and merriment. Whether you work in the environmental field or are just breaking in, it's a chance to mingle with a lively mixture of people from NGOs, academia, government and business, share information and make friends. Although Green Drinks Calgary is an organic, casual event, many people have found employment, developed new ideas, made business connections, and had moments of serendipity! We join together the Calgary environmental community and have fun doing it! Bring your friends and ideas - everyone is welcome!
Please RSVP to help us and the venue know how many are coming. This allows them to adjust their staffing if needed, which only means better service for you in the end. You can also find out who else is coming out to the events.
You are responsible for your own food and drinks. You can set up a tab with credit card or pay for every drink as you get it ("cash n' carry"). 18% group gratuity has been requested (if not, please tip).
Note: District's local and organic menu is now available in the Amsterdam Rhino next door. They also have a patio, pool table and foosball to play. If we want to have presenters there is the platform and equipment to do so. And, best of all, there is plenty of room for us on Tuesdays and even on Thursdays too. Come on out and let's give it a try. Oh, and did I mention they have a patio and it will be 16 degrees this Thursday.
Our sponsor, Brew Brothers, hosts a Live Cask a few times a month.
CRAFT is one location and we moved our event series to coincide with the Live Cask there. District/Rhino is another location, held later in the month.
A Live Cask is a special edition brew made in a 30L Keg and once it is gone, it is gone. This month it is their own take on a Black & Tan.
A “Black & Tan” is a classic British draught beer, traditionally made as a mixture of dark stout and lighter bitter blended right at the taps.
This version of a B&T is a twist on the original style, and is a blend of our Black Pilsner (dark European-style lager) and our English-style Ambush Pale Ale.
The beer has been blended and re-fermented right in the cask with a special yeast, and dry hopped with a bunch of Northern Brewer hops.
The result is a delicious dark brown, medium bodied beer with subtle coffee-chocolate notes balanced by earthy flavours and aromas from the British ale hops.
It will be served through a beer engine right off the bar and represents beer lovers call a “live cask-conditioned real ale”. Enjoy a classic pint the way it was made and served in the old days.
