Green Drinks Gold Coast November Meetup

  • Nov 4, 2009 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This month we will have a slightly different type of meeting. Pam Ellis, Channel 9 Gold coast ECO-Wrap TV Presenter, Producer, & ECO Columnist, has a very recent DVD to show that should prove very interesting. Several knowledgable and learned people respond to many of the issues raised by Al Gore and his "Inconvenient Truth" epic.

The Town and Country has an excellent big screen for viewing this, so it should make for an especially good evening.

Start time for the meeting is 7:00pm, so hopefully you do not have to battle the rush hour traffic too much. We plan to start the DVD shortly after that time, certainly before 7:30 anyway.

7pm start- top location - plenty room indoors & decking extension. "The kitchen makes really nice wedges wth sour crean & sweet chilli sauce". Only drawback was not able to view the CD that Pam had bought along. Guess that's teed up for another evening.
Change of Ownership of premises the previous week left no-one understanding the TV/Sound systems.
Really interesting people with a common shared interest a plot allocation at the new Musgrave Community Gardens Southport.(Greendrinks Plot).
Principals of permaculture, sustainable gardening/farming practices, IT stuff etc were discussed at length with everyone keen to pick up again at next meeting or Musgrave (whatever comes first)

Too bad we couldn't get the DVD shown - thanks for coming anyway, Pam. Maybe we can show it next time. Had some great discussions anyway. Justin & Leah shared a lot about community gardens on the GC and carbon sequestering. Gus arrived on his now famous wooden bike.

Yet another really interesting evening, with yet more committed and active professional and grassroots green practitioners. As usual though, you had to be there to discover the talent and depth of knowledge in the attendees, especially the newcomers to the meetings. So we have another great opportunity to link through further into the community in general.

Green Drinks (November) was an enjoyable evening, welcoming several new faces including Rebecca, Justin and Partner and Glynis Jones.

Town & Country is under new management, so we have to postpone Pams DVD until December, when their audio visuals have been sorted.

Really broad range of subjects covered with Town & Countrys usual excellent service.

This was one of the best meetups yet - some great people turned up. Especially enjoyed talking to the Permaculture guys and getting a look at Gus' wooden bike!

An invitation to this meeting has gone out to a local email list from a gardening club, of over 150 members, so don't be surprised if there is a big turnout for this on the night.
