Save the Date! EarthCare's Annual Spring Retreat - March 16, 2013

EarthCare will hold its annual Spring Retreat on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Pot Point Cabin in the beautiful Tennessee River Gorge. Come join us as Dr. Carol Landis presents "Green Audits for Households and Houses of Worship".

In 2009, Carol immigrated to TN from Ohio, where she was active with Ohio's chapter of the national program "Interfaith Power & Light." While there, she helped facilitate an outreach effort that invited faith groups to conduct energy audits, as a modification of Interfaith Power & Light's "Cool Congregations" project. The project was very successful, resulting in over 500 congregations and 3000 households in Ohio conducting energy audits. She now serves on the TN-IPL Steering Committee, and actively seeks to engage other people of faith and their faith communities to model our shared values of Earth stewardship and eco-justice. Green Interfaith Network, Inc. (GINI) is the local TN-IPL affiliate serving NE Tennessee and SW Virginia.

If weather permits, we'll also do a short nature hike. A free lunch will be provided, so please reply to this email if you plan to come so we'll know how much food to bring! Please check the EarthCare website for more ways to register and for more information plus a printable flyer at www.earthcareonline.org.

This was a wonderful event, and I am so pleased to be connected with the Earthcare members. A very welcoming bunch! This event reached my expectations and beyond. Thank you Dr. Landis for the inspiration and education. I'll be taking what I learned out into the field!

Carol Landis presented a comprehensive overview of groups that assist with green energy assessments (audits) and success stories of congregations that once committed reap the benefits of implementing assessment recommendations. The presentation was well received with lots of questions, comments, and interactions.
