DC GTD Meetup Agenda

I. Introductions + Overview (7:30 PM)

Each member will introduce himself/herself, tell us what you do professionally, your history with GTD, and a recent success/challenge with your GTD implementation. We'll give a few minutes to discuss solutions to the challenges we all share.

II. Discussion Topic: The Power of Automation (8:00 PM - 8:50PM)

This month's Meetup topic is all about the power of personal automation. For some reason Pee-Wee's Big Adventure's breakfast machine (1m10s-4m00s) comes to mind!

And, home automation has come a long way from the '80s movie imagination to products like Nest's thermostat and other home tools.

Of course, home automation is not the only arena where automation can be a boon for our productivity and our GTD systems! So, that's what we will be discussing this month...from apps to gadgets to services that help us become more efficient in our productivity. This is sure to be a lively, engaging discussion so bring examples and ideas to the group discussion.

III. GTD Resource Sharing (8:50PM)

This is where everyone can offer a book title, tip/trick or item that has helped them in their life either with GTD or otherwise.

IV. Announcements / Closing Remarks (8:55 PM)

Great meetup on automation. We talked about such automation technologies such as IFTTT, Wappwolf, the Nest thermostat, and macros. I think the conversation could have gone on longer, but we ran out of time. I would've liked the conversation to expand on:
What do people think about automation?
What are your concerns about automation?
When would you choose manual over automation?
Overall, it was a great meeting! I hope this topic shows up in a future meetup.

Thanks for the feedback, Albert! Hopefully we can touch on this topic in a future Meetup more in-depth than we had time yesterday! And thanks for contributing so many great tools/resources.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
