GDGsf and Startup Weekend are joining forces with Google's Cloud team to help developers and entrepreneurs become more successful!

We know that during a Startup Weekend event there isn't a lot of time to learn new things. You come in with the tools you have in your belt, and you do the best you can. But sometimes those tools aren't enough, which is why we're running this pre-Startup Weekend technical bootcamp!

BYOL -- Bring Your Own Laptop. You'll need administrative rights to your laptop in order to install the SDK. This code lab is intended for developers who regularly write code but are new to Google App Engine.

Code Lab info:
Building Mobile App Engine Backends for Android, iOS and the Web
Mobile application development is growing at explosive rates and the best of those applications have a backend server. Find out how you can use App Engine's new feature to build powerful APIs to support mobile applications running on Android, iOS, and mobile browsers.

Instructor info:
Daniel Hermes / Developer Programs Engineer, App Engine
Danny is a Developer Programs Engineer at Google working on the App Engine team. He is kind of a nut; a sports nut, a Python nut and a problem solving nut. Prior to Google, he worked at a healthcare startup in Silicon Valley and before that graduated from the University of Michigan with BS degrees in Mathematics and Economics (seriously, not BS-ing you). Born and bred a midwestern boy, Danny can't get enough California sunshine (or HTML5, Number Theory, JavaScript, Linear Algebra,...)

Takashi Matsuo / Developer Advocate, App Engine
Takashi Matsuo is a developer advocate for Google App Engine. He joined Google in 2010 after three years as a Google App Engine Guru in Japan, and two years as a manager of Tokyo GTUG. He is an original author of a web framework named “Kay”, made specifically for Google App Engine and recently relocated to the Bay Area.

Dan Holevoet / Developer Programs Engineer, App Engine
Dan joined the Google Developer Relations team in 2007. His current focus is on Google cloud products. He's previously worked on iGoogle, OpenSocial, Google Apps APIs, Gmail contextual gadgets, and the Google Apps Marketplace.

Johan Euphrosine / Developer Programs Engineer, App Engine
Johan joined Google in 2011 as a Developer Programs Engineer based. He is currently focusing on App Engine. Before Google, Johan was providing development services as a Freelancer around Free and Open Source Software

What time does the actual lab starts at? How much Python experience do you need, I'm fairly new to Python although I've done a small GWT app using Java.

It should not be a big amount. You can always look ahead at the slides and cheat if you get stuck.
