Buddhism in a Nutshell is an introductory course on Buddhism suitable for complete beginners. It presents basic Buddhist philosophy and principles within the Tibetan Mahayana context, and provides simple meditation instruction. In this three part series, we will look at the history of Buddhism and the life of Shakyamuni Buddha, as well as his main observation of the human condition, the four noble truths.
Participants will come to understand what is meant by enlightenment, and how it can be systematically sought and achieved. Also, we will discuss the primary feature of the Mahayana Tradition, the Bodhichitta motivation, the wish to achieve our own complete awakening for the benefit of all sentient beings without exception.
