Sunday Guitar Picnic in Central Park... awww yeah!!!

Hey y'all! This summer, I'm on tour... however, the picnics are just too popular, so we will keep the tradition going!

Group organized picnics

These picnics will be organized by members of the group. What does that mean? Beginning July 14, until the weather is cold (probably October), there will always be guitarists from our group meeting at the Great Hill, every Sunday starting at 2pm in good weather. This means that if you're looking to meet other guitarists to jam with, learn new tips + songs, or just hang out with friends and play frisbee, there will always be members of our group meeting there to play.

Updates

Because I am not there to host...

-read the weather beforehand and use your own best judgement (the meetup will remain on the site even in bad weather)

-be especially kind and welcoming to new members (our group is famous for that!)

-please keep the comments on the meetup page positive and constructive. If there's something that you see could improve the group, contact the organizers directly and volunteer to pitch in!

Our traditions continue:

-the picnics are always FREE

-feed each other (bring enough food/drinks to share for yourself and a few friends) When you RSVP, please include what you plan to bring. Coolers are always welcome.

-the picnics are open to all levels, ages, and even people who don't play guitar, friends, lovers, dogs, and babies (we do regret that poorly-behaved children will walk the plank...)

-printed pages of songs with the lyrics and chords are always popular (if someone wants to volunteer to make an NYCGG songbook like we have in the past, email us!)

Have a great time!!!

Well my guitar is inaccessible because my friend is out of town. I'll just stop by and watch.

Just picked up a food job and given the weather, I will pass this weekend. Hopefully, I can attend next weekend. EnJOY!

    Song list:
    Tangerine
    Blister in the sun
    Wish you were here
    With or without you
    Fast car
    Yellow
Stairway to heaven(at least leading up to and including solo)
    Knocking on heaven's door
    Wild horses
Sweet child o mine (key of G)
    Runaround

I will make an effort to try to learn anything else anybody wants to suggest. This is just my personal list, and stuff people seem to gravitate toward. Those of you who are so inclined, please work up a couple of solos leads to throw in there, or alternate chord voicings for embellishment.
Brush up on them lyrics if you want to sing.

Charles, do you use a capo to play Yellow? The chord chart I was using to go over it said "CAPO 2ND FRET". Not having a capo, I just played it without and it sounded exactly right to me.... My ear could be off, though.

I capo third fret, play A, E and D shapes. Objectively it's in key of C. I dont know what the original is in.

Is a fun, easy little song... I am also looking over the list to see what's playable for me at this stage.

I'm not a player but a wonderful listener of anything that has strings. I will bake something gluten-free and delicious... maybe Kolacky, and try real hard not to eat them all on the way there!
