This was a really nice event. The people were lovely and and I got some great tips to improve my playing. As a beginner I felt a bit self-conscious at first, but it was a really nurturing environment.

If you want hear some great blues, head to BB King's tonight. Blues master Joe Louis Walker is playing and my friend Bertha Blades is singing with him. She's got some voice and real star stage presence. Plus you can get cheapo tix through Goldstar: http://www.goldstar.com/events/new-york-city-ny/joe-louis-walker.html. So if you can, run for tickets. You won't be sorry.

    Joe Louis Walker

From his name to his birthday (Christmas 1949), Joe Louis Walker seems born to play the blues. Raised in San Francisco, Walker's musical apprenticeship included stints sharing stages with everyone from John Lee Hooker, Buddy Miles, Muddy Waters and Willie Dixon to Steve Miller, Nick Lowe, John Mayal...

Hey Michael. Glad you had a great time. JLWis is one great bluesmen and I think Bertha's going to be a big star one day. One of my favorite songs just for the fun factor (aside from the musicianship ) is Too Drunk to Drive. See you soon.

do many people have a print-out of the chord-chart/lyric-sheets, to share? I see that the one set of them is about 80 pages long. That would probably cost me about $20 - $40 to print out, maybe more.

I actually have an extra one -- I realized I'd rather have it double-sided, so I printed it that way. I'll bring both and you can have the single-sided version. It's three-hole punched, so if you bring a binder, you can put it right in there.

    • emily f.

Hi Lucien- you're of course welcome to come without your guitar too! you don't have to play or bring a guitar to join us at the picnic.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
