Thanks to everyone who braved the weather to come out and hike with us today! Those extra inches of snow really made for a great workout. Sorry, Linda, the GPS was all set to go but Mike didn't wear the pack I'd attached it to. When we did the hike the other day, it was 4.8 miles. I'll try to post a track later.

Mike, Kathy, Sorry I had to bail out even before you started. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one.
Been so long since I've seen you two, I wanted to catch up. Oh well, I needed the four more hours sleep more. :#( Larry

What a challenging hike. The snow was deep and company great as always. I had just enough energy left to shovel and snow blow my driveway ;-). Thank you Mike and Kathy!!!

Thanks Mike/Kathy for a great hike through snowy woods, despite an interesting start what turned out to be the unplowed parking lot! Didn't catch who the sweep was, but props to him as well. Also everyone who broke trail.

Mike's wife Kathy was the sweep ;)

Gigi said "be careful. the bridge is slippe.........Oh No !!........ I am in the creek !!". "I am coming into the raging river to save you Gigi !!" cried Kristina.

The horrific event and heroic effort will not be soon forgotten. Don't worry, everyone survived the harrowing experience.

Should this hike be cancelled, how early will it be posted? We're leaving our home by 8:30.....

    December 14, 2013

    • Dick R.

LeAnne and Charlie. You can contact the hike leaders in the morning before you leave at the above number. But as a general rule, hikes are not usually canceled unless travel in the area is prohibited.

This hike will not be cancelled on less the highway department closes roads which is not at all likely tonight.

There will definitely be snow on the ground, but it's light and fluffy. On Friday, 2-4 inches in most places, a couple of drifts over 12 inches. Who knows what Sunday morning will bring?

I plan to practice cross country skiing at Jack's Place in Durand Eastman Park.

We scouted last Sunday. No snow on the ground at that time and the ground was frozen. We'll try to go out again Friday to see how much snow is there now.

    December 12, 2013

    • Linda

There will be plenty of snow ! Save your energy for Sunday ! Can't wait !!

WE ENJOY HIKES THAT ARE IN WOODED AREAS. IS THIS ONE OF THOSE? THE MAP MAKES IT LOOK LIKE IT'S THROUGH A HOUSING TRACT! ANY INFO? THANKS.

    December 11, 2013

    • Mike and K.

This particular part of the Crescent Trail goes through woods and fields, no housing tracts.
