Thanks for leading a great hike on a gorgeous Winter day, Jen! You made sure we had some snowflakes, some beautiful sunshine, wooded trails, challenging deep snow at times, and even some wildlife (that's the deer not the snowmobiler) :-). Thanks for sweeping, Pat. You did an awesome job!

Gonna pull out we have a snow shoe event this evening and with the added distance and time it will make two in one day too much for this old gal!

Hi. With the snow, I would say this will be a more moderate hike than easy, about 5-5.1 miles long. If you have snowshoes I would use them. I hiked it today with snowshoes and I found them helpful. If no snowshoes, I would recommend some type of traction - stabilicers, yaktrax, microspikes, etc. There aren't many hills, but there are some open areas where the snow is pretty deep. It'll be varied terrain with woods, canal path, and open fields... :)

Thanks for the update - how long did the hike take yesterday? Idea on time frame for today? Did you use your poles with your snowshoes?

It took me about 2 hours 15 minutes. It may take a little bit longer than that with the group. I did stop along the way, but i would anticipate 2 hours and 30 minutes on the long side... It depends on the pace of the group of course!! It could be around 2 hours if everyone is clipping right along!!! I ALWAYS use poles on hikes, and I only use one pole, sometimes none, in this park. I only used one pole yesterday. You could definitely get away without poles with no problem.
