Introduction

I am health coach/yoga instructor/wellness program manager and very interested in psychology and health.

For our consideration into our community, please use your full name in your profile and fully complete the following profile questions. What is the nature of your interest in designing experiences for personal habit development?

As a wellness program manager for an employer group and individual health coach I am always thinking about new strategies to improve healthy choices. Everyone has the knowledge but may not make the choices that promote wellness.

Can you share a 5-minute personal story about your a successful habit development experience?

I grew up eating a relatively healthy diet which consisted of rice and bread. I also grew up experiencing a number of gastrointestinal symptoms ranging from bloating to constipation and gas. It was a few years ago that I began studying the Paleolithic/primal philosophy and decided to eliminate foods that were potential irritants- such as gluten. In creating this habit I started by choosing to no longer purchase these foods and no longer attending restaurants that heavily served these foods. I began investing in cookbooks that offered alternatives for my favorite foods (cauliflower crust pizza) and enrolled my parents in supporting me with gluten free indian food. I struggled and relapsed in the beginning but each time I got back on the plan I was a little more committed and a little stronger. The results of my habit continued support my committment.

Which (if any) relevant guest speaker(s) could you contact to speak at a future meetup?

Not sure at the moment.
