Round 19: The one where cypherpunks cringe.

  • November 7, 2012 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

The format of course stays the same: 5 minutes to show off your hack, and 5 minutes for the audience to applaud, cry, laugh, inquiry, snore, chew, stand, sit, dance, grow, interact, etc. But, of course, we hope that the audience provides lots of great feedback and asks interesting questions (probably while sitting, though dancing audience members are certainly free to participate as well)!

Show us what you've got! But, remember, no startup pitches, no work related projects[1], and no deckware! See you at Meetup!

RSVPs open 1 week before, so Wednesday, October 31st, at noon.

[0]: Let me clarify the "no job projects" rule. We want to promote the projects that people do in their spare time, for fun, or utility, and not the kinds of projects that are only applicable to people who work in your company, or your direct clients. On the other hand, there may be a project that you've built primarily at work, that solves a *general* problem that your company has allowed you to release with a libre license--this is usually fine.

When Google began hosting events they used to request NDAs but they quickly came to their senses. I think the same will happen to fb.

The first rule of Hack & Tell: you do not talk about Hack & Tell.

Since it'll be a bit cold/wet, note that you don't need to step outside to get to the building from Grand Central: Go towards track 40, go up the stairs next to the flower shop Dahlia, and hang a right to enter 335 Madison.

I've sent the final attendees list to FB as of 9:10am. Thanks to all who listened regarding +1s etc. See y'all tonight!

    Hey all,

Please keep in mind two things:

    0. We need a list of names to give to Facebook for building security. If you have guests, please make sure that their names are given to me somehow (preferably through the RSVP question).

    1. We have a very large waiting list due to limited seats. I've reserved a few seats for people affected by the hurricane who couldn't RSVP last week, but am opening up 6 more slots right now. Please, please, please update your RSVPs no later than 9am on Wednesday!

Looking forward to seeing you all!

@Jay - Still need to send out some presentation confirmations, and still waiting to hear back from a few people... Might need to recruit some more though!

This will be my first Hack and Tell - I can't wait! Presumably presenters have been chosen and notified by this point?
