      They have a signup for volunteers (http://coderdojonyc.c...) to send announcements and things, so if you know you'd like to volunteer in the future I'd go ahead and do it now. Otherwise, if you just want to try doing mentoring on Sunday and see if you like it, they'll be doing a mini-orientation and you can choose to sign up afterwards.
