Learn to make your own models for 3D printing with Autodesk Fusion

-Please install the BETA version of Autodesk Fusion before arriving to class:

-It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that you bring a 3 button mouse with you.

3D printing is really awesome, but unless you have the skills to make your own designs, you're petty much limited to thingiverse and other online part repositories, which have their limits.

Come and learn how to use Autodesk Fusion to make precise 3D models of whatever your heart desires! No prior experience is necessary.

Format of the class: We will do a ~1 hour lecture/tutorial on the basic principles of how the software works, and then a 1+ hour "study hall" in which you, the students, will design something on your own while I, the instructor, make the rounds and help people out with their specific problems. Really hands-on is the goal, so come prepared with an idea of something you want to model! If you don't have one, I can suggest some sample exercises.

The software is currently free and going through a beta period in which they are adding new features fairly often. In December Autodesk will switch to a subscription model, but it will remain free to students and enthusiasts (which I imagine includes people who just want to play with 3D printers and the like). Even their subscription model is quite reasonably priced compared to other CAD software out there that has the same capabilities.

There will be more events like this. Maybe not until March, but I do intend to host more of these

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
