Announcing a new Meetup for Hacks/Hackers - New York!

What: First NYC Hacks/Hackers meetup

When: Wednesday, June 2,[masked]:00 PM

Jennifer 8. Lee and Craig Silverstein's Loft
121 W. 17th St., Apt. 7D
New York, NY 10011

Hacks/Hackers is coming to New York.

This will be the inaugural New York gathering of Hacks/Hackers, a group of journalists and technologists to interact and collaborate to build the future of media. The first event will be more about getting to know each other and convening the community to talk about what you'd like to see in the future.

This group is part of a growing organization that held its first get-together in San Francisco in November and now has more than 500 members worldwide. Hacks/Hackers-affiliated events have also been held in Chicago and Washington DC.

While there will be no formal speakers, Aron Pilhofer, editor for interactive news at The New York Times and co-founder of Hacks/Hackers, will talk about the goals of the organizaton. Jennifer 8. Lee will discuss her work at the Knight Foundation to support journalism innovation. Josh Cohen, senior business product manager at Google News, will also make some remarks.

The event will run from 7-10pm. If RSVPs exceed capacity, the event may be moved to a different venue, so please check back the day of the event.

Dumplings, dim sum and other treats will be served. If you want to bring wine or beer, please feel free.
