Charles Anderson: "A Shallow Survey of Alternative Languages on the JVM"

In this talk I will survey some alternative languages that run on the Java virtual machine and discuss why this might be useful to programmers, even those who aren't on the JVM.

John Anderson: "Not Your Daddy's Perl"

* An overview of some of new developments in Perl over the past few years, including Moose, Plack/PSGI, perlbrew, cpanm, and others.

Message for Lewis: Yeah, it's on Github at https: //github.com/genehack/App-Slydr -- doesn't look like I've gotten around to uploading it to CPAN yet, and I suspect the documentation is a bit thin. .. Feel free to ask if you have any questions about using it. 8^)

Message for everybody else: stupid Meetup isn't letting me reply to Lewis...

Nice meeting everyone. Thanks for the good presentations and the beer. I'm looking forward to the next meeting. I'd like to learn more about what skills are in demand in the Salem area.

I think you're doing a fine job. Luckily, these cats don't require a great deal of herding!
