RE: [hackshackersboston] Proposed Football Hackathon: 'Hack the Pats with open NFL Data Set'

It will be fun. The hacks people create will be creative and ingenious, I'm sure (they always are).

btw, at the beginning, there will be a "team forming" time, when people will announce their idea for a hack (if they have one), and people with different skills can join one team or another. It's very informal, fun, and a good way for people to meet one another.

This would be fun.  I may not be able to hack yet,  but I know football.

All fired up about the football playoffs? Think you can out-coach Belichick's hoodie?
We may have the event for you -- a proposed football hackathon.
AdvancedNLFStats has released every play in the NFL since 2002. What can that tell us about Belichick's 3rd down mentality? Help find out at a hackathon focused on NFL data: We'll work on visualizations, interactives, and any other creative ideas you come up with.
Very important note -- this is still proposed. If we get a good response, the event will be scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 19 (don't worry -- no playoffs that day), all day, at the Boston Globe.
Examples for inspiration might be the Pat's play predictor:

Or the Bill Belichick Press Conference Simulator:
