Update: We ran out of 200 RSVP slots in just 27 hours. Because we know we have an approximate 15% flake rate, we will keep a waiting list and open up another 20ish slots closer to the date. Its better to fill out more info rather than less on the profile if you join the wait list.

Business or pleasure? Have it both ways at the next Hacks/Hackers Summer Media Mixer, hosted by Gawker Media.

Please join 200 other fellow journalists, developers, new media moguls and enterprising minds at our next meetup on Sept. 8, 2010, on the legendary 5,000-square-foot rooftop. Hacks/Hackers NYC will facilitate networking, create introductions, and break down the barrier between hacks and hackers and friends and strangers.

Come with your best ideas, be they professional or social. If you are interested in continuing to make connections, HowAboutWe is offering a free month's membership to their dating service for those who come to the event. Not single? Pass the coupon code along to a friend.

As the night begins, we'll have giveaways, activities, and icebreakers to help you find your next project collaborator, vendor, client, or brainstorming buddy (that's the business part). Around 9 p.m., the networking party becomes social (the pleasure part): Enjoy cocktails, music, and the company of your new friends while enjoying a fabulous view of downtown Manhattan.

RSVP is only $2 (to keep the count accurate because of limited space), payable ahead of time. In the event of rain, the event will be rescheduled for Sept. 13.

Good collection of people. BINGO theme helped break the ice... Booze never hurts either. Well done!

Dang. RSVPs to this are going like hotcakes. By the time I get every "There is room" email, it's already gone.
