Introduction

Columbia Graduate; writer, CEO, adventure capitalist

Are you a hack (content creator, writer, photographer, videographer, etc.), a hacker (engineer, developer, designer, etc.) or both?

Writer and CEO of WB, Inc. We are a passionate, hard-working team based in New York City. I graduated with a degree in Creative Writing from Columbia. During my four years there, I wrote a book and attempted to publish it by composing 93 individualized query letters to agents, publishers, and editors. I received 34 responses, 30 of which were uniform rejection letters. Naturally, this was deeply frustrating. When I spoke to my professors, all of whom are phenomenal, big-name writers now, they reassured me. They said that it took them about 7 years to break into the industry and that's just the way publishing goes. I refused to accept that. Thus, the aim of WB, Inc. is to reduce the barriers to entry for new writers in the publishing industry. We want to change the process to give writers more leverage and readers a voice in the development process.

Are you looking for partners to collaborate on projects, and if so, what?

If you are a passionate programmer who wants to disrupt an old-school industry, we are looking for you. The ideas we have to create this platform are quite complicated, so we would most likely be seeking someone who has work experience coding. This person should be interested in growing into our CTO. I am seeking more of a partner than a hired developer, someone who would be invested in the concept and care to help struggling writers. We are offering equity and a salary.

  • Welcome Nayia! Thank you for joining! I hope you join us at our next meet up: Operation Tobytown. We are working together to showcase the narratives of community members of Tobytown, a tiny hamlet of modest houses surrounded by mansions of Potomac. Many of the individuals who live there are descendants of slaves who founded Tobytown in 1875. I hope you join us and that you find the experience rich and engaging. Take care!
