I will come to a presentation of real-world examples of Mahout for huge matrix factorization, clustering, regression, etc.

@Arjun: Sure, if this makes sense to everyone, I can present at the next HUG a session a basic intro to Hadoop, HDFS, HBase, Hive, PIG etc. Just let me know of the collective interest!

I'd like to see some discussion about the basics in cluster design. Hardware used, disk (LVM or no LVM), rack strategies, NICs (bonding, no bonding), rack strategies, multi-colo processing, etc..

On the surface it might seem like "well, we already have clusters set up" which is true, but I think enough people have Hadoop clusters now that we can all benefit from each others learnings and come up with general guidelines and best practices. This will help all of us maximize throughput, etc.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
