October Los Angeles Hadoop Meetup

We'll be kicking off the new group with pizza and beer. It will be a meet and greet, we'll discuss how we're using Hadoop, what we'd like to get out of it, and what's new on the horizon. Our speaker will be Derek Springer:

Derek Springer is a Software Engineer with nearly five years of experience developing software in the aerospace industry, focusing primarily on the integration of legacy applications into service-oriented architectures and user interface development. Additionally, Derek is pursuing a MS in Computer Science at the University of California, Los Angeles, specializing in information & data management. Derek was first introduced to Hadoop while working on a project for a Parallel Programming class and is becoming more and more convinced that cluster computing is the future of Internet infrastructure.
