Halau Hula O'Lewa Kapakai
Aloha! We are a non-profit Halau (School of Hula) located in The Henegar Center for the Arts.
We enjoy dancing Hula, playing music and sharing our Aloha Spirit with the community. We take our Hana Kupono from Kumu Kawehi Punahele.
Hula is telling a story through hand movements & dance. We run through hula drills, hula basics, and Dance to beautiful Hawaiian Music. This movement works out your core, and if done correctly, gets you in shape and TONE!
Its a beautiful way to get together twice a week and find new friends, listen to awesome music, & feel the Aloha Spirit!
We are Blessed to have a live band! Leader of our Halau band is Roland Galindo. His band brothers are: John Silva, Braddah John/Burger/Sir-Lion, Marshall Dubay, "The Marshall", & Bill Waldelton, "The Mayor".
Through hula, dancers of any level can give unselfishly, unconditionally and find peace within. It doesn't matter who you are, or where you come from, for as long as you have love for hula, you belong here!
We wish to keep Hana Kupono (Hawaiian Protocol), share Aloha with others through our dance, music, & friendships. Our hope is to connect with locals that also share a love for Polynesia, the culture, and peace among one-another.
Don't forget to join our fb page!at www.facebook.com/#!/beachsidehula or at website above for class times and info.
Hula basics are taught in Saturday's class, students learn correct terminology and technique in both ancient and modern styles. We will be learning both auana (modern hula),Kahiko(ancient hula).
Ma Kau Kau??! (are you ready?!)

THE FOLLOWING IS A QUOTE FROM Kumu Mark Keali'i Ho'omalu, Hula Consultant, Hawaiian Music Composer,
This is the Mission Statement for this Halau:
"If you're small or tall, skinny or fat, it doesn't make a difference if your desire is to dance Hula.
I give great praise to all those that are not Hawaiian, that value Hula too & do Hula.
How grand it is for somebody else to love something of someone else's culture, I think thats a beautiful thing. Mahalo to those that are not Hawaiian & still love Hula, Thank You very much."
