*** NEW TIME ***
Houston Art Car Parade is the world’s biggest celebration of Art Cars and the largest free public art event in the city of Houston. The parade attracts over 250 cars and other entries from many states as well as other countries and an audience of 300,000 spectators eager to see the weird and wild vehicular creations.
The parade begins at 3:00PM and will end at approximately 5:00PM.
The parade runs along Allen Parkway, starts at Taft, heads toward Downtown, makes a left at Heritage Park, and back down Allen Parkway the other way.
Let's gather on the green bandstand in front of the restaurant (look for the red balloons). We will start walking at 2:15pm going towards Allen Parkway to select a nice shady viewing location.
If you are planning to attend the parade, but do not intend to join the group, please do not rsvp yes to this event. It falsely enlarges the number of attendees.
Admission is free.
There is no seating provided. Please bring a camping chair or blanket/beach towel to sit on. Otherwise, you will be sitting on the grass or on the curb. It is also suggested to bring food and drinks, sunscreen, and cameras. Please be prepared to carry whatever you chose to bring with you.
This is a family-friendly event, but please be aware a few of the floats do have adult themes. Last year, the first float was a gay wedding cake. If you are bringing small children with you, please bring a stroller or a wagon for them.
City of Houston does not allow animals.
Food and beverages will be available from vendors. Bring cash.
Portable restrooms will be available.
If possible, please take public transportation to avoid the parking nightmare that you will definitely encounter. Due to construction, all Metro Rail stations will be closed. The 700 Rail Shuttle will be running along the rail line. If you were planning to take the train downtown, please allow extra time.
If you chose to drive, please realize that there is limited pay lot parking on W. Dallas and limited neighborhood parking in between W. Dallas and W. Gray. Please do not park in the restaurant parking lot.
Please plan to arrive early. It will be impossible for you to find the group once we start moving. Even if you post a comment looking for us, we will be along the side of Allen Parkway, and there are no landmarks to describe where we are.
We would like to thank the management of the The Refinery for donating a gathering location for us.
