Houston Grand Opera - Strauss' Die Fledermaus

Prince Orlofsky's costume ball-the most coveted invitation of the year-drives the action of this urbane farce by Johann Strauss. Captivating serenades, a famous Hungarian csárdás, and, of course, lilting waltzes, permeate the luscious score from the "Waltz King." A stylish deco-inspired setting adds to the witty, sophisticated fun.

Sung in English.

Tickets and seating are on your own.

Pre-curtain lectures are held 45 minutes before each performance on the Orchestra Level of the theater.  These 20-minutes presentations are free and open to all ticket holders.

Out of consideration for other patrons and for the performers, there is no late seating.

I will be at the top of the escalator to the left from 7:00PM to 7:10PM (wearing black/white outfit).  Please come and say hello.

Downtown offers free metered street parking after 6:00PM on Saturday (do not park by the red ones).  Parking in the Theater District Parking Garage is $7.00 on Saturday.  Clearance for trucks and vans is 6’8”.

For anyone interested in having dinner before the performance, let's gather in the lobby of the Post Rice Lofts building at 5:45PM.  It is located at 909 Texas in between Travis and Main Streets.  I will be in the seating area on the left.  We will leave for dinner at 6:00PM.

It's wonderfully entertaining--so glad HGO chose this "opera." Something for everyone!
