Thank you Flora for your support. As I'm sure you saw, I don't get rattled to much by people you disagree with me - I generally try to match their tactics. When they get 'in my face' as that gentleman did, I just get right back in theirs. I generally feel that I have the advantage of having the higher ground! Looking forward to seeing you and everyone at many future events.

What I can say is that you were definitely not one of the people I was referring to.

I'm between "good" and "okay" on this. While I felt the meeting was fairly constructive, to an extent I felt like I wasn't receiving a lot with regards to new information. Also, from the sides of both believers and non-believers, I think some people came in with a desire to be combative towards others. I really have to say though, with regards to some comments that were made, the lack of knowledge with regards to the scientific process was mildly disappointing. I say "mildly" here because it was mostly expected.

Also, Renee, with regards to a particular comment made toward you: you should not feel ashamed at all for acting on your right to be treated equally.

Also since I am part of this meetup group, do I pay the cover charge, or not? Just want to clarify. I think I have to but I'm not completely sure.

Yes, it's free for members of the Niagara Secular Humanists, but not for those who have just found it through Meetup.
