ok, its done but I'm not sure when it shows up to the group. It says 2 more RSVPS are needed before it appears.

So Jim and Sandra, if you can find it and click YES, then the ball is now rolling.

Somebody has requested a weekend at one time. I'm ok with that also. Maybe a sunday lunch sometime.

Hi Sandra, et al, I don’t think anything has been posted, perhaps Mac group mare busy with exams or something or everybody is slow getting over Xmas/New Year.
I’m up for getting together, if you suggest a night that suits your work/family commitments you and I can post something and see who comes along.
I’m good most nights except Wednesday when I work, most other nights are OK but Tuesdays, Thursdays are best or even Sunday nights suit me.
Is there any location that works better for you, I’m good with Fool and Flagon, Boston Pizza or is there someplace closer to you?
In any event you are right we need to keep the group together.

Hi Sandra, we had your son at one of the get togethers at Fool and Flagon, My son was there too if you remember. My son may be coming on Thursday too, he is 39 but I'm sure if I can get him to behave you'll let your son play with him. I'd rather have kids at our meetings than at Sunday school. Thats one of the ways the religies beat us hands down. "Suffer the Children to Come Unto Me??" Don't recall if Jesus or Chris Hitchens said that

I would love to come this thursday but don't have a babysitter, would anybody terribly mind if I brought my son? I also need some advice from you guys! The other day I was dropping my son to school (grade 1) and heard on the PA system an announcement something about celebrating god or something like that! Couldn't believe my ears, went to talk to the principal right away and she said that they celebrate every culture and religion. I asked her if they have any atheist celebrations that she can announce, she said there wasn't any! So I suggested to her if I provide her with some, if she would announce them, and she said yes! So I need some ideas, I only know of a Darwin day, does anybody know of any others? Thanx!

I don't mind if you bring your son. As for the schools policy about saying prayers for all groups. I think that's legal but there might be someone who can mention something good (and secular) that could be read every so often. I suggest you give them enough readings for them to read so that they can add them to the cycle and they'll have enough readings to last the rest of the school year. They then wont have any excuss for not reading something secular again in the future. I don't really have anything for you off hand. sorry.

also, it doesn't have to be only at "celebration" times. Actually having them read something at NON-celebration times would actually give them more opportunities to read secular information on a weekly?? basis. Still don't have any idea's though ;-)

Local humanists might be interested in knowing that after many tries I have finally managed to get an article with a humanist perspective published in The Hamilton Spectator.

I hope you’ll take time to follow the link and read it. Please also feel free to forward the link to anyone else you feel may be interested.

Perhaps if the article generates enough traffic it will open the door for others of a similar viewpoint instead of the usual “Faith Issues” we so often get in newspapers. http://www.thespec.com/opinion/...

The article may be a little trite and sentimental and not our usual hard hitting comments on god, but if that’s what it takes to get published and reach a wider audience, it’s a compromise I’m happy to make.

I would welcome your feed- back, positive and negative but constructive please.

    Thanks.
    Jim Young
