Distance: 26 Miles
Speed: 16 - 18 mph with gusts up to 20 as we get into the swing of things
Rider Level: F26 (Intermediate)
This is a quick-paced 26 mile ride from Sac State College along the Jed Smith Memorial Bike Trail to Sunrise Blvd. and back with hill repeats at the turn around.
The hill repeats are on Pennsylvania Ave. almost to Fair Oaks Blvd. Distance is 0.4 miles with a max grade of 10.1%. Plan to do a minimum of 2 repeats on this ride. More on subsequent rides. From there we return along the original route to Sac State.
This is a training ride so we will be riding a very quick pace. Excellent prep for Eppie's Great Race along the very same route the race takes.
Casual riders on mountain bikes or cruisers will see us disappear into the distance in the first five minutes so please judge your equipment and your skills appropriately.
The ride starts early so we can finish while it's still light out.
This is a weekly series. Start now and you'll be pressing 18 - 20 mph by the end of May.
As always, helmets are required.
This event starts very near the University/65th St. light rail station in the hope that you'll save gas, money and the environment by taking the train. Schedules can be seen here...
Failing that, please consider carpooling with someone or just riding to the starting point. You can park for free in the area of 900 University Ave.
An RSVP is a Social Commitment. Your Hosts and Organizers go to great lengths and often personal expense to make these events fun and enjoyable for you. If you are unable to show up, please update your RSVP a minimum of 2 hours before the start time of the event.
