PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST!!!!

RAIN OR HIGH LIKELIHOOD OF RAIN CANCELS

This is not a beginner ride - you must have substantial experience riding in traffic and on lots of hills to do the ride, the Morgan Territoy climb is an 8 miile climb, the Mt. Diablo climb is an 11 mile climb. We will do  *some* waiting at re-group points, but please be able to sustain the advertised pace and have plenty of climbing experience. On the climb and descent, I suggest that people ride their own pace, and we will wait a reasonable time for re-groups at the tops and bottoms of climbs.

Route can be found here(note rwgps routinely overstates climbing by 20-30%):

http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2223291

Please review the route sheets -- I will bring enough for everyone in a "friendly format" (not the rwgps standard format). We will ride as a group up to mile 12.9 the Morgan Territory turn off, then the asecnding/descending starts at which point everyone needs to ride at their pace, however,  we will regroup at all the regroup spots on the route sheet. This is a fairly way out of town ride and I want to make sure we are all good and accounted for. As far as restroom / water stops there is restoom and water at miles 22.4, 48,2, 52.6, 57.1. The visitor center at 48.2 has very limited snacks so plan your hydration and fuel accordingly.

As usual helmets are required, as well as any hydration and nutrition you may need for the ride.

Also, I know some of you like taking the train up to Martinez, if you want to do that that is fine, but make sure you are at the ride start at the advertised time.

Anyone else that wants to caravan up (I'm fully loaded), I will be at Pipeline coffee shop on the corner of pleasant grove and foothills blvd at 7:00am, they have a good pastry selection and good coffee as well. Also bring $$ if you want to eat afterwards I'll be hitting the mountain mikes pizza right down the street from the ride start.

KILLER-DILLER day!!!!! Thanks Javier - you da bomb and it was just the BOMB of a day. I have never EVER seen it so greeeeeeeeann....and then the POPPIES just made my day. Wished I'd have taken a picture, but I didn't want to stop. I was focused on this being a personal best (although my rest stop 2 mile up from ranger station may have ruined that) - can't wait to see my Strave! :D

Well planned route and well spaced rest stops, Javier. Thanks for changing my tube before it became a problem, Kane and Javier. Beautiful ride!

I see that one of my tube valves broke off just now. Would someone be able to help me change the tube tomorrow AM? I have 3, a CO2 cartridge and a floor pump I'll bring. (It's embarrassing but I'm still inept at this procedure.) I'll also bring towelletes. I'll be there by 9:00 if anyone can help. And is it ok to park in the shopping center parking lot? Thanks a bunch!

I've parked there numerous times before on this ride without issues :-) I always park in front of the safway on the row right next to the parking lot main road from bancroft rd ...There will be plenty of us out there to help you out , not sure how close to 9:00am we will be as we are all coming from Sacramento area, but we'll take care of you :-) ...we'll be hitting the mountain mikes down the street on ygnacio valley rd afterwards ...I would park there, but it's so easy to hit that canal trail from that safeway parking lot!!

Want to carpool as well, coming from 50 side, so good carpool meet up for me is the Fish Hatchery (7am), or West Sac P&R (7:30).

I have two roof racks set up, a medium size or less bike can fit in my trunk and still leave one of the back seats in operation

I've ridden done Morgan Territory once and have been up Mt. Diablo at least 8 times, but I'm not a fast climber. The flats no problem. I "think" you won't have to wait too long on the Morgan Territory Rd. portion. If I could get guidance until Camino Tassajara, I know the rest of the way myself so I don't hold anyone back and will descend at the ranger station. Please honestly let me know if you see this as a problem and I'll change my RSVP!

Javier, I got a couple of other kick-ass cyclists coming (excluding me) from the local area. I hope you will just lead me out of the Morgan Territory Wilderness and I'll be fine on my own! I typically like to max out at 65 miles with 5000' climb. The 72 around Tahoe with 3700' is great. I've done 100 miles six times, but don't love them. Just to give you an idea of my ability. Just slow-slowish on the climbs depending on the grade.

You'll be fine, I haven't been on my road bike much, been racing my MTB this year so far, so I'm not expecting much out of myself
