Did anyone upload to Strava? I'm sure I was not the only one out there with a gps that uploaded but Strava is not showing any other riders.

    April 8, 2013

    • Joe M.

Well I opened a support case with Strava and found out this interesting tidbit. To be listed as "other riders' you have to have started within a minute on 50% of the segments.

      April 9, 2013

    • Javier A.

Ah ..thanks Scott, yea I'll leave it as is ...actually I'm thinking mine is correct, I'm so hardcode that I climb more than anyone else on any given ride. @Joe -- that makes sense, I wsa wondering if it was gonna say "Javier Arroyo and 1200 other riders" LOL!!

Thank you for all your positive comments. Sorry about the sprinkles early on, but we have our limits.
We've heard some negatives about the CHP, not from you folks, but from other sources. Good? Bad? Indifferent? Personally I crossed Hwy 88 twice when RS #3 was at its peak, and there was no CHP in sight. Other observations would be appreciated.

    1 · April 7, 2013

    • Bryan L.

CHP was definitely on lazy duty yesterday. There was a large group waiting to cross one of the major roads and the officer just leaned on his car about 200 yards away talking to someone. No interest in helping us cross or doing traffic control. I don't know if they were supposed to do that, but to me it seemed like they were just waiting for someone to get flattened.

      April 7, 2013

    • VaShon R. Elmer (Shon E.

OK, so on the CHP thread: after cleaning up RS#1, several of us went for a little ride. We caught the very tailend riders before RS#3. As I'm bombing down the road from Pardee Dam, I happen to notice a moto behind me, and lo and behold, it was indeed a CHP. Well, my heart jumped in my throat, let me tell you!! I was trying to think of what I was doing wrong - only came up with I was taking the whole lane or speeding (and yes, I slowed a bit.) As I made the right turn at the bottom, he speeds up to me and says: 36mph - NOT BAD!!! I told him I hit 42 earlier!. He rode off. :D

It was great seeing all of you. Yes, I think we do pretty good. We closed down RS #1 and all went and rode the hardest portion, so I got a good day in too. Thank all of YOU for supporting US! :)

Great day of riding in the Ione area. Would have put the GPS on if I knew I was going to have a decent day in the saddle:-) Fun seeing so many cycling friends - new and old - out there.

    April 7, 2013

    • Alan

Not yet Javier and your doing you best to keep it that way. Chasing Sarah <--(sounds like a good movie to me) will keep you that way.

      April 7, 2013

    • Scott T.

Thanks for the great pull Charlie!! Got us to an overall 18mph average :) Well, that tandem doing 32 into BV on the way back didn't hurt either ;)

i agree with all the comments. The Bike Hikers provide a consistently well organized ride every year. And Ione is a perfect place to ride, especially in spring!

The Pardee Party is maybe the best organized ride in our region. Very well supported. Beautiful route, fun post ride party!

@Shon, Do you have a Ride with GPS route to post

      April 5, 2013

No. I have an old-fashioned route sheet.

      April 5, 2013

  • Behroz H.

I have a question. Do I have to register to do this Saturdays ride in Ione?

    April 4, 2013

    • Javier A.

Not sure what you mean ..you have to prepurchase registration for this event, and it sold out a while back. If you do have a purchased registration you have to "check-in" at the ride start in order to get your map and band which gives you access to the rest stops. This is the way all organzed rides work

      1 · April 4, 2013

    • Behroz H.

Thanks. You answered my question. I wasn't sure if this was similar to the Ione bike ride I did with the Hammering Wheels group or an actual annual paid event

I hear parking can be a nightmare. Where is the best place to park to avoid all the congestion? Also I live in Roseville, any idea what time I should leave in order to be there in time for the 7:30 am gathering? Thanks

    April 1, 2013

    • VaShon R. Elmer (Shon E.

Thanks for the good comments, Javier!! I like to think we do pretty good.

      1 · April 2, 2013

    • Kane F.

If anyone wants to avoid any type of traffic, the secret parking lots are a little out of town. On the north side of Ione, there's a golf coarse where some riders typically start there rides. The other parking areas are top secret :) http://www.castleoaks...

You don't HAVE to, but as a member of an ethical bike club, you should. But with the ticket transfer process closed, there is no way to get a registration. Sarah can probably pretend to be Barbara and procure her slot. Blaine will have a harder time pretending to be Linnie, as Linnie's "gift" of her ticket to Blaine will NOT be accepted at registration, so his claim that he is in "legally" is bogus. But thanks for giving us the heads up on who is trying to sneak in.

    April 4, 2013

    • Mike S.

I don't see anything unethical about letting someone use a reg that you paid for.

      5 · April 5, 2013

I would think all they have to do is sign a waiver and then it's good to go. IMHO

Anyone trying to sell their registration? I'll buy it!

    April 4, 2013

  • Mike S.

Barbara has to go back east. Her Aunt just passed away. We were planning to ride Party Pardee but now she can't. I am still riding it but now have an extra ticket. The Bikehiker website says online transfers are closed but if you pretend you are her you can probably use her admission. Just buy me a meal and we'll call it even. Also, does anybody want to carpool there?

    April 2, 2013

    • Mike S.

      The registration is taken.

In response to Todd's answer, he was right, but the transfer deadline was 6pm Sunday. Too bad, as there were a couple dozen unsold tickets, some at half price.

    March 31, 2013

  • Sarah C.

Do people sell their tickets for this?

    March 31, 2013

    • Todd P.

Yes, you need to go to bike hikers web site, from there link to the forum to buy and sell tickets.

      March 31, 2013

Everyone good with the same time(s) as last year i.e. 7:30am to get together/visit/group pic and rollout at 8:00? ....I'm assuming what SteveMD posted last year still holds true:

    SteveMD

Regarding the starting time and the group photo -- the Hammerin'
Wheels "train" would be much more impressive if you left closer to 8am, as NO ONE leaves until at least 7:30 when the front gate opens. You would be completely lost in the initial surge if you insisted on the 7:30 start time. Besides, it will be slightly warmer at 8. So relax, let the roads open up in front of you, let the rabbits get ahead so your Hammerers have someone to chase. We hope you all enjoy your day.

    March 25, 2013

    • Charlie F.

Yep. All that have, should wear their jersey's of course, so we can have a show of force.

@Scott, putting a MTB single speed together but not a road bike. My algorithm for pain on the ride = 40 lb tandem + 290 lb team + potentially moody stoker that hasn't ridden in a week. I'm going to b in a world of hurt. I think you will leave us in the dust, but you can't keep up with me on the down hills this time :) Will be parking at the usual spot instead of parking hell.

    March 25, 2013

My post from last year is still true. Now a heads up on the matter of tickets. The Party Pardee Forum currently has about a dozen tickets available from people who have conflicts, aren't in shape, have had a recent medical procedure, have tickets to a Giants game, etc. The Forum can be accessed at http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/PartyPardee/
You will need to join Yahoo groups (it's free) in order to participate.
