Board Games Meetup

Hey guys, I enjoy playing fun board games and I was wondering if there would be people interested in meeting up to have some fun, have a drink or two, and meet new people around some board games.

The event will take place at El Merkado close to Place Massena.
Apparently they already have board games over there, but feel free to bring your own board games if you have any!

    Hi;

    I wanted to ask if anyone might be driving this evening up to Nice Ouest? I do not see any bus running late, and I am coming by train to Nice....

    So the venue is booked. I have been asked to call them if there is any change concerning the time or the number of persons coming (since we are already 28 right now, so please let me know if you cannot make it and/or if you bring an extra person).

    Otherwise, see you tomorrow !

    I don't have any game at home that I could bring. Talking about cards I used to play gin-rummy (rami in French) a very long time back and it was fun. I am ready for card games or other types of games. Let's see what people bring and what El Merkado will have. 21 people is a BIG GROUP! LOL

    November 20, 2013

    • Jean-Francois C.

      I will bring two card sets if people want to play card games. And indeed, 21 people is a big group so we will have to split in may smaller groups depending on what people want to play.

      1 · November 20, 2013

    • Jon à A.

      I was there last night and saw a stack of board games. But Rumi is fun for a group. Also we could compete as teams and switch players based on their "hand win loss per round" to move people around in each group.

  • Faizal

    Anyone for card game?

    November 19, 2013

  • Jon à A.

    Which ganes will anyone bring?

    November 17, 2013

    • Jon à A.

      OK, I guess games with more than 2 people are best. I have backgammon, but that means 2 people and isolated from the group.... so I will leave it unless somebody tells me otherwise.

      November 18, 2013

    • Jean-Francois C.

      Yes I think it is better if we play "group" games in order to avoid people being isolated. But of course if there are 20ish attendants there will be a few smaller groups of people.

    My favorite game is Othello, also marketed widely as Reverso, see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ol3Id7xYsY4.
    But since i don't have the game in Nice, i'll bring my Scrabble. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

    November 15, 2013

    So it looks like it will be at El Merkado since a lot of persons are suggesting this location.
    The date has been moved to the 26th of November. I hope it will suit everyone. Feel free to bring your own board games if you have any!

    Hi;

    I think Alice is right, El Merkado can be a good spot and they already have board games there. I would also suggest a week day like Tuesday or Wednesday evening around 1930? That way there should be plenty of inside room to accommodate a group. Friday / Saturday is far more packed in that place and in most places.

    November 14, 2013

    • Lana

      Tuesday ok - but Wednesday is quiz night - why not come out for that if you like games - it's fun. You can find it listed on the calendar (on left) and sign up. L

    I think it's a very nice idea. I will join you if it's on a weekday next week for example (except this tuesday). El Merkado is a good place. We went there last time and enjoyed the place and ambiance. I haven't played games in ages and I will definitely enjoy it.

    El merkado (the cocktail bar near the Opera) has lots of board games (cludo, risk, dominos, monopoly (although I hate monopoly) a muppets board game, chess etc). I think if we went one night early in the week we should be able to get a nice table inside, have some lovely cocktails (they do hot ones too, and teas and food).

    Yeah, could be good! I'll try to reign in my competitive side...

    I would be up for it if the event were on a weeknight evening; only because I am not around on the weekends for the next 6 weeks.
