Dear New Happiness Club member,
We are excited that 16 people have signed up as new members for the Portland Happiness Club. It is our experience that the more people that show up for the first meeting, the greater and quicker will be the expansion of membership and attendance in your city. Of the 16 that have signed up, 6 of you have said that you WILL show up for the meeting, and 6 have said maybe, for Monday 26th 7pm at the Laughing Planet Cafe. Even with 6 attendees, we expect that you will all have an enjoyable and profound exprience about how you can choose happiness as the centerpiece of your life.
The Meeting will begin after the initial "hello"s, with a 30 min DVD, featuring a long time Happiness Club Founder, form the East Coast, Lionel Ketchian. After reading hundreds of books, he realized in 1990, on a specific day, which happened to be X'mas eve, that he felt inexplicipably happy. He made the descision, then and there, that there was no reason for him not to sustain his state of happiness, realising that he could either allow external events to effect his mood, or not. He tells the story on the DVD how from that moment on, he chose to be happy, regardless of the circumstances around him, and even tried to spread his happiness with either a smile, a complement, or even a joke, if appropriate.
To this day, Lionel has managed to remain true to this commitment and sustained his own state of happiness, which you will hear about on the DVD, inspiring as it is.
Obviously, as we all do, he has undergone numereus challenges and difficulties, but found that sad and troubling as some of them were, he could still exprience an overall state of gratitude for being alive, and for all the gifts in his life. The truth is that we can all learn to do the same. The field of positive psychology has proven that the more we focus on what is positive in our lives, the happier and healthier we will be.
Some techniques and exercises will follow the DVD, for you to practise during the meeting and on your own in the time before the next meeting. We sincerely hope that you can make it to this meeting. If there is anything we can do to help, please call me directly, at[masked] 0960.
