Its time for a longer walk, so MT Hobwee is the answer.
This is a 18km AS4 rated walk that has a number of natural lookouts on its path that should provide some spectacular views, and world class rainforest as a bonus!
From national parks website:
After leaving the Border Track 5.4 km from Binna Burra, this circuit winds through rainforest to the summit of Mount Hobwee (1163 m). Much of the forest near the summit was disturbed by a severe storm in 1983.
The Nothofagus forest and associated communities found here and Mount Merino provide strong evidence of the Gondwana connection. The 'beech orange', a species of fungus, occurs only on Nothofagus species found in Australia and South America.
The circuit rejoins the Border Track for the return to the Binna Burra car park.
This walk will be longer than others I've run so I'm thinking an earlier start than usual to allow plenty of daylight.
Meet at the start of the border track (near the teahouse cafe) in binna burra @ 8:30 for a 9:00 sharp departure.
Please bring appropriate shoes/cloths, lunch, snacks, water and insect repellant
Recommended: rain poncho, personal medication (panadol, band aids etc), warm cloths, spare socks
Hope to see you there
