Someone reached out to me today to invite the group to a movie showing for tonight. Not our typical type of event but it sounds pretty interesting. Here's the info she sent me ...
Hi. My name is Kate Smith and I'm reaching out to you from Civic Mind Studios here in Downtown Hartford! We have recently started a Living Liberally chapter in Hartford, and we will be hosting screening, reading, and drinking events. Our first event, Screening Liberally, is tonight and may be of interest to members of your group!
If you are not familiar with Living Liberally, they are dedicated to creating communities around progressive politics. Through social networks and events, they promote political engagement, and facilitate collaboration among progressive organizations. In your everyday routine and social life, you can be Living Liberally.
Our first Living Liberally event is Screening Liberally, where we are featuring the film "An Inconvenient Tax." An Inconvenient Tax explores the history of the income tax and brings to light the causes of its many complexities. The film follows the tax through wars, economic booms, and some of the most significant presidencies in U.S. history.
It is tonight and starts at 6:30 PM and ends whenever the conversation does. It is being held at 57 Pratt Street 2nd floor (the brick road) in Downtown Hartford. The location is known as Downtown Yoga- the screening is behind the studio. When you walk into the studio take a left and walk down the hall towards the back- everyone will meet in the community room!
We are extending an invitation to your group, its members, their friends and family-anyone who would like to partake in our Living Liberally events. This event is not just a movie event, we encourage guests to stay after the film to talk, network and make new friends. And of course, this event is free to attend! We would love to have some local members of the Hartford community here at our event! If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me!
Note: this is not an official meetup so no RSVP is necessary. Just show up and enjoy.
