Volunteer for 2 hrs on Christmas morning at a no-kill animal shelter

Arizona Animal Welfare League is the oldest no-kill shelter in AZ.  They primarily rescue their animals off the euthanasia list at Animal Control.  You can work with the dogs or cats.  Please change your rsvp if you cannot make it.  I know it is early in the morning on Xmas day but it will be so rewarding in the end.

Brian, since I have it posted on two groups I was thinking of having this group come from 8 to 10 and the other group from 10 to 12 and I will stay 4 hrs. They wanted 10 people at a time so that would work. For the future I know the animal section of Craig's List has rescues on there so I can post on there and I am sure there would be interest from some group wanting our assistance.

Have a call into the Maricopa Humane Society...no response yet. Any other ideas?

I agree Brianis. I know that their dogs that need walking but they are not allowing us to do that. If u could connect me with a shelter that would be great and I could make it a montly meetup. I can check around as well. Maybe this shelter had a bad experience and that is why they are making this so controlling.

Maybe we should check with some other shelters. I volunteered with my work group a year ago and we had approx. 30 people that showed up. We walked nearly every dog they had. Would guess that Christmas day we would be in demand. I will go and check on some other facilities, others check as well. Let's stay connected on this.

ok I am going to change my rsvp -I defintely cant do anything with cats including laundry that might have any type of cat hair on it so since it seems as if there is no need for the dog socialization I am going to bow out -thanks though for posting

Just confirmed what the shelter is needing help with on Xmas day. Help in the cattery, laundry, and organizing one of the sheds. I appreciate all the volunteers that signed up but we do have about 10 more volunteers than what is needed so if this is not of interest to you please change your rsvp. We also have to sign a disclaimer which is in the main office when you come in just ask for Michele Walker.

We will start in the cattery. If u are running late we will be in the cattery. Last yr we helped in the cattery and socialized puppies and held them.

We will be there around 2 hours. Allison they won't allow other animals there. It would stress out their animals.

Okay, we'll leave them in the car in their crates but will take turns attending to and walking them. See you there!

Can we bring our 2 professionally trained German Shepherds? (also can crate them but if they could be inside watching the volunteers that'd be better than leaving them home on Xmas morning) There will be 3 of us that can volunteer (adults)
