Scroll down for Hike Description. If you HAVE QUESTIONS about the hike, or you would like to meet at the trailhead instead of carpooling, please CONTACT THE LEADER DIRECTLY at the phone number or email below. This is important because the leader might not see a message you post here. Remember to ARRIVE EARLY at the carpool location. The time given is our DEPARTURE time. There are always more people on our hikes than are listed in the meetup RSVP. Please view the photo gallery to see what our hikes are like. We ask for a mere $10 per year in membership dues. There is no "per hike" fee. You are welcome to join us for free on your first hike. To pay the $10 Annual Dues, please visit our Website: http://haywardhikers.weebly.com . Click on "Join or Renew". Credit/Debit/Paypal is accepted, or check by mail. Thanks!

Directions to trailhead: Heyer (exit out of CVHS parking lot) to Cull Canyon (right) to Crow Canyon (left) to 680 (North). Continue North and merge with 80 East. Go .3 miles and take exit 41, Suisun Valley Rd (turns left). Continue on Suisun Valley Rd (North) to Rockville Rd (left or West then North) to trailhead on left. Directions back to 80 are slightly different so check with the leader before leaving the parking lot (or have a GPS).

Travel distance 50 miles; time 60 minutes. The hike is 70% easy and in the shade, 25% moderate (with sunny areas) and 5% slightly more than moderate (but not steep).

NOTES: 1) there's a toll bridge on 680; 2) there's a $3 use permit required for each hiker, paid by cash or card at the Kiosk; 3) there's only one maintained toilet inside the park (not at the trailhead) which we'll visit about 1/2 way along the hike; 4) there's no poison oak; 5) there are lots of docile cattle; 6) there's lots of small wild flowers; 7) there's lots of views of oak trees, boulders and scenic vistas; 8) there's lots of bike trails throughout the park; 9) there's a largish lake and pond; 10) most trails are single file; 11) carry water and "sticks" (if you like them).

Approximate hike distance is 10.5 miles with an elevation gain from 160 feet at trailhead to 560 feet at the highest point. Approximate hike time will be from 9:45 to 2:30 (with 20 minutes for lunch).

Trails: Upper Quarry; Lower Quarry; paved Ridge Trail; Chemise; Old Ranch; Rock Garden; Tower; Outside; Cliff; Jockey Junction; Twisted Tree; Lower Mystic; Black Oak; Green Valley; (Lake and Pond); Tilley (with left turn at Outback); Devil's Backbone.

Come and enjoy (and take lots of pictures).

As usual I really enjoyed the hike today!

It was steeper than anticipated and there was an unplanned (mis)adventure doing some rock scrambling with unexpected detours. Everyone made it to get back on track for the easier part of the hike. The temperature was a little more than the hikers were prepared for so the hike ended a bit early by taking a "shortcut" back to the trailhead (i.e., the cars).
