0.20 release is coming up fast and we have gotten quite a bit done since the LA Hackathon for it.
Proposed schedule:
A quick look at already completed issues for 0.20
Performance numbers comparing 0.19 to 0.20 trunk
Zookeeper + HBase tutorial
Issues still open for 0.20 and where they stand
Memory management. We will now have many distinct consumers of heap and need to figure out how this will be most effectively managed (Memcaches, Block Cache, Indexes/Blooms/Meta, Cell Cache, and of course normal operations)
Any decisions made/to be made about delaying issues originally slated for 0.20, and ideas for other 0.21 improvements
Open Q&A for users
A couple hours of hacking for those that wish to stick around
Any other topics you'd like to see on here, let me know, or if you have anything interesting you'd like to present on.
“ It was great to meet the meat behind the virtual personas of the mailing list and contributors of HBase. Nice to hear how other people are using HBase and what are some of the upcoming new fixes and features. Most importantly to see how diligent the developers are and how much activity there is in developing HBase. ”
