HUG10: April HBase User Group at Trend Micro
This HUG is kindly being sponsored and hosted by Trend Micro. The location is still to be determined.
Andrew Purtell of Trend Micro will be presenting on what Trend Micro is doing with HBase as well as his HBase related projects -- Stargate, Coprocessors, "hosted HBase".
John Sichi from Facebook will be presenting on HBase/Hive integration.
Mahadev Konar of Yahoo will be presenting on ZooKeeper, the coordination service used extensively by HBase, what's new in the 3.3.0 release, and why HBase users should upgrade.
We will also going to host a Hackathon (see http://www.meetup.com...) prior to the meetup, on the same day. Hackathon from 12-5pm, meetup from 6-8pm, networking after until about 9pm. We have arranged to host HUG10 at the Sheraton San Jose, in Milpitas. This is a little south for many HBasers, but in exchange for the drive we have:
- Private salon
- Classroom for 30 from noon-5PM for the hackathon with catered lunch buffet at 1PM
- Meetup for 100 from 6PM-9PM(ish), catered dinner at 8PM (southwest buffet), cash bar, and use of an outdoor terrace
- Free wireless Internet

Awesome++ meetup. Two thumbs up for Trend Micro for putting this together. The location of the venue could've been better, and it would've been nice to have 2 screens to be able to properly see the slides from anywhere in the room, but overall it was pretty awesome and well organized.
