Friends,
I will be offering an adult Basic Hand Drumming class series this Fall
at the Oakland Mills Other Barn in Columbia. This class series consists of six classes and meets on Monday nights beginning on September 10th and running through October 15th, 2012.
These classes are lots of fun, and perfect for beginning adult players. In six classes we will cover: techniques for producing the basic sounds of the drum, rhythm patterns that are fun to play and group poly-rhythms that blend together with song. The focus of the classis on West African style hand drumming for body drums like the djembe, ashiko and kpanlogo, etc. Although Basic Hand Drumming is designed as a beginning level course, there are many ways to challenge more advanced beginners, and focusing on technique and quality of sound is always a sure way to improve your sound.
Please note - If you have already taken a basic hand drumming class,
we won't repeat the same rhythms you've learned previously. I have
lots of fun new rhythms to play with.
Tell your friends how much fun it is to drum. You can sign up together. This class is limited to 25 people, so sign up now!
Drums are available for loan during class (in case you don't already have your own).
Cost for the class series is $90.
To register, please send a check for the class
fee along with a seperate piece of paper with your name, address, phone number and email clearly printed on it.
