Come Celebrate the with the Health Crowd
Another year has passed and it is time to celebrate the successes and listen to the visions of what is coming in 2013 - and make them happen! 2012 was pretty incredible for our member companies, many of which made record profits, executed massive pivots well, acquired great companies, adapted to the changes in the marketplace, did Crowd Rounds, got Angel or VC funded, launched successful initiatives, crossed into profitability, were implemented in hundreds of hospitals, got massive publicity, and more. It was a watershed year and it is time to raise our glasses and have some fun. But this is healthcare, so even our fun has a higher purpose, of course. All proceeds will go to Charity, for startrs, and we have a bunch of other new surprises too. Read on!
The CRYSTAL BALL
This event is not just a party, but also a time to envision the future. To help us warm up our imagination engines, we have asked five visionary leaders representing in the major stakeholders in healthcare to tell us in three minutes or less what will happen in 2013 in healthcare and then to spend half an hour discussing the topic on stage for our edification and entertainment.
The Investor: Esther Dyson has been well ahead of her time since before this photo was taken and it is still true today. With some of the best investments in healthcare and a vision of the future, Esther is one of our favorite speakers and panelists and we are pleased to put the spotlight on her as our first soothsayer for 2013.
The Government Man: Bryan Sivak, CTO, HHS - Who better to tell us what will be happening in Healthcare and Technology in 2013 than the man in the cat bird seat. Accomplished as an entrepreneur first and grabbing the government bull by the horns, Bryan continues the tradition begun by Todd Park and Aneesh Chopra of driving innovation forward with an active role, stepping rapidly into the void and organizing it. Embracing Open Data and even crowdfunding, Bryan has a plan for the future and I think you will love to hear about it.
The Empowered Patient: Regina Holliday - One of our favorite leaders in healthcare started out as an Artist and Mom and Toy Store employee who had something terrible due to a dysfunctional healthcare system that let her husband die for its ineptitude, adding insult to the very real injury along the way. Instead of starting a lawsuit or just accepting this all too common outcome, Regina channeled her anger and fear and grief into her first of hundreds of paintings choosing not an easel, but a 1000 square foot canvas on a main street in Washington DC. Since then Regina has become a worldwide leader of the patient advocacy movement and is an inspiration to us all. She also initiated this event by donating a piece of her art to the Coalition For Healthcare Innovation that we will be auctioning at this event. Regina starts amazing things with her art and we look forward to hearing her vision of the future.
We have invites out to two more leaders but if you know a visionary Hospital or Healthcare Stakeholder leader you think we should invite, please email [masked].
CHARITY ART AUCTION by John Lucas from Storage Wars NYC
We have eight donated ART works from Regina Holliday, Kai Okada, and other patient activist painters which we will auction off for the CHARITIES we are working with. Principally the International Diabetes Foundation but also numerous other great organizations including a new one called the Coalition for Healthcare Innovation (www.c4hci.org) that we think you will all love to get behind (like MedStartr and dozens of other startups, incubators, and investor groups, this too is growing out of our Health 2.0 NYC community.)
Our Auctioneer is none other than John Luke Jr from Storage Wars NYC, the New York version of the hit A&E show that is premiering on December 11th at 9 PM. Check it out!

To Our Collaborative Organizations in New York
Our budding coalition of like-minded organizations was key to planning this event. They are the true founders of the Coalition for Healthcare Innovation, and they have collaborated on making NYC the top community in the world for Healthcare Innovation due to their hypercollaborative leaders. Thanks to Matt, Indu, JL, Milena, Brad, Mat, Steve, Unity, Bunny, Yin, Brett, Dave, Anuj, Alan, Rick, and John Wislon who run the following amazing Healthcare Innovation Groups:
Health 2.0 Conference (aka "National" - H2NYC is just a local chapter)

iBreakfast - Creators of iBreakfast, mHealthcon, and Startupalooza series that connect Ideas to Capital
... and to our team members and volunteers:
H2NYC is a volunteer organization and we are thankful for the contributions of Donna Cusano, Megan Antonelli, Alan Brody, Nita Nehru, Kyle Robertson, Andrea Spillmann, Sophia Chan, Lynn Nezin, Mike Schwartz, Komal Garewal, Mamta Parahk, Tim Brown (Hospitals 2.0), Steve Merahn MD (Doctors 2.0), Talya Miron Shatz (Pharma 2.0), Sarah Krug (Patients 2.0), Jigar Mehta, Brett Burliner, Laurie Wheeler, Sonali Nigam, Steve Greene, Lois Drapin, JL Neptune, Tirth Patel, and Glenn Smith this year. Without them, we would not be able to do what we do. This seems like a huge team but in fact it is very fluid and we never have enough hands to get everything done since we all have so many other commitments. We also lost three key team members and need a chair for Medical Devices 2.0 and Biotech 2.0, new series planned for 2013. So Level UP and get involved!
Thank you for your support in making Health 2.0 NYC the largest and most dynamic Health Innovation Meetup group in the world! We couldn't do it without you!
