This group is working on the state and national level to establish single-payer healthcare - the only truly universal health care for Colorado or the US. (Other so-called universal coverage plans like Obama's don't include everyone due to the exorbitant expenses involved in insurance mandates).
The idea is everybody in, nobody out (NOT 75-95% of the people will have coverage, but everyone).
It is based on:
1)public financing (cheaper than the total current spending going on right now between the employers and citizens. So, yes, it affects taxes, but your employer no longer has the cost of ever-increasing insurance costs that are rising much faster than workers wages and inflation, and so your employer could more easily afford to pay you for coverage.
2)privately provided - your choice of doctors and hospitals.
3)reduces employers need to outsource or not hire new workers due to the tremendous cost of health insurance, and allows for business growth.
4)most importantly, establishes not-for-profit, but instead caring healthcare in the United States
