For those of you who aren't up on your Cuban history, el 26 de julio is the anniversary of the attack on the Moncada Barracks in Santiago de Cuba. Also called the movimiento 26 de julio, it was revolutionary organization planned and led by a then young Fidel Castro who in 1959 attempted to overthrow Fulgencio Batista's government. Fidel was jailed for his part in this failed coup. Unfortunately, we all know what came after that.
With this in mind I thought we could have a little revolutionary 2-wheeled romp prior to Paul's Bearded Lady Ride. We'll meet at Victor's 1959 Cafe in Mpls on the corner of 38th and Grand Ave S at 11A (in the lot between the back of the cafe and neighboring flower shop) and take off no later than 11:30A. We'll enjoy a leisurely ride, ending at 1P at Paul's starting location of the DQ by Minnehaha Park. Those of us who wish to continue on with the Bearded Lady Ride can then do so, and those who need to depart can take off.
Feel free to fly a Cuban flag or dust your Fidel beard off and get out the combat boots!
“ Best scoot yet for me! Doc showed us where to go and Binky and the blockers were awesome to watch. Perfect day, perfect scoot. Too bad Fidel and Raul couldn't make it. ”
