Michaels for the best ( 28 zagat ) Italian in LA

OK , so its LB but on a monday around Xmas time , therell be no traffic and its almost LA. We been wanting to try this place since both the restaurant and the adjoining pizza parlor are always 28 and year after year top Italian on zagat. Monday also is the no corkage night and we will step up like we did at Teronni's and have great Italian wines to complement the food. If we're a small group, then it'll be a regular table. If a larger group of 10 - 16 , we'll have private room. More details as it gets closer, but we're all set

Ok. I got ahold of them, and at the chef's suggestion paired down the # of pizzas, quantities of some apps, and took off the quail risotto (there is risotto in with the osso bucco anyway) and got it down to $110. No one has reported any dietary restrictions (other than my wife Sharon), so unless you pipe in, you're assumed to be carnivorous. Please chime in with any hidden guest count. Should be awesome!

I'd rather have a little less food, since this is a huge menu, and I know I'll be totally palate fatigued by the time the meat course begins. Don't need tuna, and only one pizza is fine with me. Also maybe 2 pastas, with the chef deciding which two are best.

I agree with amy robin Larry etc that lighter cheaper is better. Way too much other wise. But offering a 2nd choice for the glutton peeps is a great idea

I'm good either way.....menu sounds great.

I'm actively trying (it's actually kinda hard to reach the right person) to trim the menu a little (probably striking the Salsiccia and Agnolotti) and bring the price down maybe $20. If I succeed, and you're a glutton like myself, post to that effect, and maybe I can arrange 2 price points (for the more=more types vs. the svelte). Cheers!

Kathleen emailed me. All good. And feel free to lessen the menu. Seriously, everyone feels it's too much.

    Hi all,

We have the private room reserved and I have designed a special epic 15 course tasting menu with the chef (below)! This will be an incredible night and hopefully those that voted it one of America’s top Italians were right. But we need to get a reliable head count, so please confirm (i.e. please don’t flake the day of). There is plenty of space (the room holds up to 20). Also, as Yarom said, high end wines, ideally Italian. If anyone needs one, I have over 300 bottles of good Italian wine and can trade or sell at cost. I’ll bring a 1990 Gaja Barbaresco and other greats. Please let Yarom and I ([masked]) know your wines.

Additionally, as this is a set menu, if anyone has special needs, please let me know ASAP. I’m sure they can accommodate, but we don’t want to pop it on them that night.

If you like Italian, this is a night not to miss!

Menu to follow in separate post.
