"How To Live Off-Grid I" Renewable Sustainable Living
- America Moving Towards An Independent Society -
"Associating Green with Corporate Independence"
DEFINITION OF "Off-Grid":
Off the grid, Off-Grid, not grid tied, and no grid or public utility interconnection are just some of the terms that refer to consumer and business independent renewable power systems. Off-Grid systems are installed and completely operated and maintained by their users.
An Off-Grid power system does not require any energy from the public utility grid which generally consists of large over head or under ground wiring and monthly billing. Public utility systems are supported by burning fossil fuels, nuclear energy or very small amounts of wind, solar and hydroelectric power. This electricity is then sold to businesses and residential. The cost of this electricity contains a utility markup, corporate expenses, a delivery charge and the cost of maintaining these inefficient plants. The public utility grid is not as regulated as most think and can adjust electricity markup and delivery costs annually and monthly.
