Meetup Groups are run by Organizers.
Organizers pay dues to Meetup in order to operate their groups. They add Meetups to the Meetup Group's calendar and keep the Meetup Group's members in the loop about what's going on. It's up to the Meetup Group's Organizer to decide how the Meetup Group is run and what the Group is all about.
Organizers also manage and approve the Meetup Group's members. They decide if the Meetup Group will have dues or event fees.
A Meetup Organizer keeps the Meetup Group running, but Organizers don't usually run their Meetup Groups all alone.
Most Organizers appoint Assistant Organizers or Co-Organizers, and get help running the Meetup Group from the Meetup's members.
