Questions & answers

1. Does it cost money to start a Meetup Group?

Meetup doesn't charge individuals to create an account, join a Meetup Group, or attend meetings.

Instead, every Meetup Group is responsible for paying a fee billed to the Meetup group Organizer. Most Organizers treat this fee like a restaurant tab, sharing it with the Meetup Group members by setting membership dues or charging at individual Meetups.

There are 3 price plans:

  • USD $12 a month for 6 months (a single $72 charge)
  • USD $15 a month for 3 months (a single $45 charge)
  • USD $19 per month

Each plan has a 30-day money back guarantee.  Organizers can run up to 3 Meetup Groups with their subscription.

  2. Click "Subscription Info" (over on the left).

Here you can:

  • Change your subscription plan
  • Update your credit card information or cancel your subscription.
3. How to view your subscription history

To view a full history of your Organizer subscription:

  1. Go to your 'Account' page.
  2. Click "Subscription Info" (over on the left).
  3. Click 'see full subscription payment history'
4. I closed down my Group but I am still being charged!

The subscription that you purchase as an Organizer is actually tied to your account, not to your individual Groups.  So even though we prompt you to end your subscription when you step down from running your Group, it's still possible to have an active subscription even though you aren't running your Group any longer.

To cancel your subscription:

  1. Go to your 'Account' page.
  2. Click "Subscription Info" (over on the left).
  3. Click 'Cancel subscription'
  4. Click 'Yes, please cancel my subscription' to finalize the cancellation
