Ever see those strange boxes on the shelves at Quantum Frontier and didn't know what the heck they were about? Well this is your chance to come out and be introduced to (or just play if you're a veteran!) some great board games that are definitely NOT your traditional Parker Brother games.
Based on attendee interest, the agenda for demos will be chosen from the following: Carcassonne, Settlers of Catan, Dominion, Ticket to Ride, For Sale, No Thanks!, and Incan Gold with perhaps a few surprise games like Forbidden Island, Tsuro, and Defenders of the Realm thrown in for good measure!
The goal of this event it to expose new people to the gaming hobby, allow for a venue for people to play during the week, and have veteran players meet new ones and expand their gaming circles. And if you have something awesome sitting on your shelf that you've been dying to bust out, bring it along! Are you intrigued? If so, we hope to see you for some gaming goodness! And if not, well come out anyways and you might just be amazed at how great board games can be! Bring a friend too!
This is an ongoing event that takes place the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month at Quantum Frontier from 6-9.
To round out the night, we had some people playing No Thanks!, a quick little card game where points are bad and chips are good, and others played Incan Gold, where you push your luck to gain mounds and mounds of delicious gems :D
Take care all and see you in two weeks where there may be some changes to QF game night.... stay tuned!

I taught Ingenious to Victor Alex, Michael, and Rob. It's a nice abstract game where the idea is to match colors to gain points. But there's a twist! Your score at the end is whatever color you have the LEAST of!

Andrew taught Lord of the Rings the Living Card Game to Rob and they threw back the forces of Sauron. And the Hobbits rejoiced. Afterwards, Andrew and Matt had a tense match up of Battleline where the players attempt to win the battle by taking 5 of 9 flags or 3 adjacent flags.

Lael, Hans, and Amanda ran a game of Settlers of Catan. It looked like Amanda would be in a distant last place since she wasn't getting ANY resources, but managed to throttle victory by gaining longest Road AND Largest Army. It was a close one though with Lael and Hans nipping her heels. Following that, they played Timeline: Inventions where you have to place different items in the correct chronological order. First player to run out of cards wins!

Going backwards in technology, Louis Lemaire led the brave lads and lassies of Camelot (Chelsea, Mark, Jeff, Nicole, and Glenn) in a great game of Shadows over Camelot. The valiant knights completed quests, fended the walls from fierce barbarians, and dealt with that traitorous Lancelot.

Victor, Michael, Alex, Matt, and myself took to the skies with Cosmic Encounter where we each played as different alien races trying to create colonies on the other players worlds. There was much backstabbery to be had and Michael had all the good cards!

For Sale was played by myself, Chelsea, Rob, Lael, Amanda, and Jeff where we bid on properties for half of the game then did a switcheroo and sold them off in a tense "guess what your opponent is going to do" showdown.

Post Game Report: Another great turnout! It's getting to be a trend! Despite the heat in the room, our gamers toughed it out for some solid fun times. Over the course of the night we had Chelsea, Rob, Lael, Amanda, Hans, Jeff, Victor, Michael, Alex, Matt, Andrew, Nicole, Louis, Mark, and Glenn playing a wide variety of games. Here were the highlights:

A reminder that Tuesday night is Board Game Night at Quantum Frontier! On tap are some oldies but goodies with Settlers of Catan, Cosmic Encounter, and Carcassone. Newish fare includes Jaipur, For Sale, Sentinels of the Multiverse and the possibility of Space Alert (it would be nice to get a regular crew on this action packed, real time space adventure!). Come out for gamey goodness!
